After 2 years, Vietnam’s tourism industry has opened again, but there are many changes in entry and exit policies, visa regulations, and e-visa fee in 2023.This article will help you better understand the changes in Vietnam’s immigration policy and how much an E-visa will cost in 2023.

What is Vietnam E-visa?

Vietnam E-visa is issued by Vietnam Immigration Department from February 2017. This visa is issued online and you only pay the online fee once when you apply for the e-visa. When you arrive at the airport, you do not need to pay any additional fee.

Currently, the E-visa is only valid for 30 days and is suitable for foreigners who enter Vietnam once a month for tourism and business purposes. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you will have to extend your visa or try to find out about a ‘Run visa’. However, according to the current policy, the Vietnamese government does not provide e-visa extension services.

Previously, if you were on the list of countries that were issued visas on arrival, you could easily choose 1-month multiple entry, 3-month multiple entry, etc. But now the visa on arrival only allows you to enter once a month. So you can also see that Vietnam’s entry policy has undergone many changes, so the 2023 visa fee will also have many changes.

How to get Vietnam E-visa?

You can get a Vietnam visa in the following 3 ways:

Option 1: You go directly to the Vietnamese embassy/consulate in your country to apply for a Vietnam visa. For the required documents and visa fees, you must contact the Vietnamese embassy for more information.

Option 2: You can apply for an E-visa through the Vietnam government website. The visa fee is $25.

If you apply for a visa directly through the Vietnamese government website, you should pay attention to the following issues:

  • Your E-visa application fee will not be refunded if your application is rejected or if you make any mistakes during the application process, so please double check your information during the registration process.
  • You cannot modify the date of entry, port of entry, etc. after submitting the E-visa application or after receiving the E-visa. If you want to change your information, you will need to apply for a new E-visa.
  • When you register directly with the government, there is no one to answer or process your questions, there is no way to know your visa status, and your application may be later than the expected date for collecting your E-visa.
  • Usually you will get your E-visa within about 5-7 working days, however, the visa processing time may vary depending on the number of applicants or public holidays. Therefore, you should submit the application two weeks before coming to Vietnam to ensure that you have a Vietnam E-visa. If the flight date/time is approaching and you still do not have a visa, please use our urgent Vietnam visa service.
